Is there an upgrade path for CS5.1 to work on MacOS 12.3?

Hi,

Just got a lovely used MacBook Pro 13" in near mint condition, with all the interfaces, the look and feel that I am used to.

However, after migrating my files and software I get an error message for my CS5.1 Photoshop version. I've been reading up a bit, but that version is supposedly a 64-bit one and should theoretically work with the MacOS installed, Monterey 12.3, ... or should it not?

If there's a path, please point me to an upgrade/patch so I can continue working with my non-cloud-dependant PS version.

No, there is not an upgrade path from CS5.1 (released in 2010) to current versions. Photoshop has been subscription only since 2013. It's macOS that locked you out of it, btw; Windows users are still able to make their older versions work.

The least expensive plan is the Photograpy plan, annual, payable in a lump sum of $118.88 for the year or monthly at $9.99. It renews automatically unless you cancel. Be sure to find the right plan, as it is not always at the top.

The only way to keep using CS5 is on an older computer with an older OS, as long as all continue working.

You're welcome Lutz. 😊 You are likely to have more questions, as Photoshop has changed since CS5 — start a new thread for each and we will be happy to assist.
