Issue with copying and pasting

Hi. I am using the quick selection tool to select a certain part of a photograph to drag onto a different photo. I can successfully copy and paste the selected part of the photograph, but the pasted picture is extremely zoomed in to the point where all I can see are huge pixels on the screen. I tried using the zoom tool to zoom out of the selection, but nothing changes. Thank you for the help!

That can happen if the two files have different resolutions. Photoshop can have only one resolution per file so the pasted pixels are taking on the resolution of the file you are pasting into.

It can also  happen when the two documents have the same resolution.  When one document is zoomed way in and the other document is zoomed way out.  The Actual number of  Pixels select  in the actual image are copied and pasted  and these are being scale to a differemt mumber of pixels in both of the viewed images at  different zoom percentage. Neither  image is being display 100% zoom actual pixels.  Two different scaled images are being displayed.
