Issue with my brush tool(s) in PS

Hi,

For some reason my brush tool is not working properly in PS (latest version) - it only appears like a cross-hair (+) symbol and using the [ ] to increase / decrease size do not work either.  I've done reset all tools, uninstalled/reinstalled PS, but the issue is still there.   Has anybody else experienced this, and if so is there a solution to fixing it?

Problem sorted now - I had accidentally put cap lock on
