lasso selection tool shortcuts for adding (shift) or subtracting (alt) not working with wacom

New Here ,

For some odd reason, whenever I use the Lasso tool and try to add (shift) or subtract (alt) to the selection I've created on Photoshop while I am using both the keyboard shortcuts and the wacom...it doesn't work. However, if I am only using the trackpad + the keyboard shortcuts, everything is fine and the selection tool works perfectly.

I have uninstalled and installed Photoshop, I did the same with my wacom's driver, I have updated my macbook's software (Photoshop and wacom too), but nothing seems to work. It seems almost like some kind of interference, but I don't really understand what's going on.

Basically the shortcuts are responsive with only the keyboard + trackpad (even if the wacom is connected), but not when I start using the pen over the wacom.

Could you possibly help me solve this weird issue? Maybe I'm just dumb, but I really can't solve this.

I really, really, really appreciate your help! Thank you so much.

I'm having the exact same issue. Shortcuts for lasso tool work fine with trackpad or mouse - anything but the Wacom pen. If I hold the pen far away, then press shift or option for adding or subtracting selctions, the little + and - icon will appear next to the lasso on the cursor. But as soon as I move the pen close to the tablet, it disappears and won't allow me to use the shortcuts.

Someone please help!

Yup, just starting having this issue too.  Running the latest Photoshop (as of 10/27/23) on Mac OS Sonoma 14.0 and a Cintiq 22.  When I draw a selection with the lasso tool and hold shift to add onto it, it flashes the plus sign for a second before disappearing and not allowing me to add on.  The same is true with an attempt to subtract from the selection.  I could select the "add/subtract" manually in the top left, but the keyboard shortcuts don't work when using my stylus.  Only when using the trackpad, as others have noted.

In the video I've attached, you can see what happens when I attempt to add on to a selection that I've drawn with my stylus, while holding down shift.  In the top left you can see the selection add/subtract flickering when I press shift, but not staying onto the "add" option.

*Note, this seems to impact other keyboard shortcuts too when using the stylus.  For example, where I would usually be able to hold option when clicking under a layer to clip it to the one underneath, it now flickers instead of allowing me to hold the shortut and click.

...this also means I can't use the eyedropper tool to select colors when painting.  WOW this is an issue.

TEMPORARY SOLUTION:

This appears to be an issue with the latest Wacom Driver.  After unintalling the latest driver "macOS Driver 6.4.4-2" and installing the previous version, "Driver 6.4.3-2 (macOS 10.15 - 13)" the issue seems resolved.

I can confirm this issue and fix. I was having the same problem after updating my drivers (Cintiq 24 Pro) yesterday. I just reverted back to 6.4.3-2 and the lasso tool works as it should now.

Thanks for the heads up Glenn.  As you can see, there have been a few people with the same issue.
