Hello, So i was watching this tutorial on how to proeprly color flat. He was using the lasso tool. and once he went over a section like the whole body once. he could go over the hair for instance and didnt always have to stay wihtin the lines since he already lassoed it out the first time. He said it was due to the settings of his tools. I am trying to figure it out. Can someone please watch and try to help me understand where the settings are that he tweaked in order to be able to lay down color like that? because it is a total game changer for work flow.
here is the video. can skip to 7 42

Hi, I was under the impression that the face flatting was on a different Layer than the case background, but I see only two layers. If the face flatting is on its own layer, then you could lasso that way.
it could work if he was filling with lighter tones than the background using the "darker" blending mode.

I did not know about this. So is it essentially combining the steps of lasso and then option delete to fill with foreground?

Well, he has the line layer. And then is doing the flatting on a seperate layer but all on the same. But what I need help is how he is able to do the body. and then when the hair he is able to go around into the background and the lasso tool only fills the hair and not the background. like in this photo you can see how its selected outside the hair.
