Hi,
first time I want to use/record
File - export - export as
in an action to create JPGs instead of using the "old" option »save for web«. (*)
However, this step is not recorded in the action.
I can't imagine that this important feature is a bug. → Where is the hidden option 😉 to get my action?
Thanks, mycc
(*) By using "save for web (legacy)", the action does not save the file with his own file name, it uses the one of the file used during creating/recording the action – and overwrites the JPG file when I use this action in "Datei – Automatisieren – Stapelverarbeitung". Only in the latest (?) version of Photoshop! Hopefully no another bug 😞

Former versions of Photoshop doesn't create the attribute "Benutzerdefininierter Dateiname" ("user defeined file name"?):
How can I get rid of it? I just installied the latest Beta. But it has the same bugs/features! 😞

Apologies for the delay in my reply.
Actions generally record absolute values, so whether using Save As or Save for Web (Legacy) – be careful not to change the filename when recording the action:

It's a design limitation that Adobe are aware of, however, Export As has never been updated to fully support actions and scripting.
Using Save a Copy and Save for Web (Legacy) are fully supported by actions and scripts.

Thank you (for this bad news...).
But please see my own answer. This "new behaviour" makes me crazy – using such an action with "save for web" since decades, to export images as JPGs with specific settings as batch process.

I'm going to look into it when I have time.
Use Save– not Export > Save for Web (Legacy)... Automate > Batch has an "override action save command" checkbox option allowing the recorded file path and name to be ignored.

Yes, it has – but in my case (for decades...) my action saves the image in a specific location with specific settings.
I can't understand why there was I change in this behavior in one of the (very) last updates of PS.
But now: time to sleep. 😞

Batch requires an action save step, not export, if you intend to override the save step:

Download Image Processor Pro, which is available for free. It allows you to save files in various formats, with or without a suffix and prefix, and eliminates the need for a Save or Export step recorder in action. You'll appreciate it later.

SfW recorded in an action will use the correct filename and will not overwrite previous files.
