Question

Latest versions of Photoshop keep disconnecting my Remote Desktop connection

Remote Box = Windows 10 Pro, 16 core i9 @ 3.2 GHz, AMD Radeon RX 6500, 4Gb

I am a prepress production tech. I spend a lot of my day troubleshooting, fixing and preparing images for high-end offset and digital presses. I've spent an enormous amount of time in Photoshop over the last 25 years and have developed a working methodology that has been working flawlessly. Even when I began I began working remotely (over 4 years ago), the transition was pretty much seamless. The Adobe Suite rocked on. However, all that changed about a month ago.

Some fundamental change (in the last few updates of Photoshop ending with 23.5.5) is now cutting my remote desktop connection about every 45 seconds when I am trying to prep high res images for offset printing. I reconnect, it disconnects. Nothing else in my remotely-connected day does this ... only Photoshop ... and sometimes Bridge. I can have Photoshop open and I'm OK. But, as soon as I begin to edit an image, it disconnects. Even closing multiple open files takes 3-5 reconnections just to shut the program down.

I can't get any work done ... can someone help?

Just a theory on the disconnect aspect but your specs do not meet mininum Photoshop system requirements.

4GB is well below the minimum RAM requirements.

What may be happening is Photoshop is shutting down due to lack of resources.

Sorry ... the 4 Gb is the video card ... the RAM is 32 Gb.
Also, I've been using Phgotoshop and all it's updates for 4 years and this has only happened in the last month or so ...

Which exact version of Photoshop are you working with?

What is

»But, as soon as I begin to edit an image«

supposed to describe?

Does simply moving the cursor cause the problem, otherwise which Tools, Menu Items, … are you employing?

Photoshop version 24.6.0
I am a prepress tech, so I spend a lot of my day fixing other peoples image, doing RAW conversions, colour balancing, image cropping etc. etc. It doesn't seem to matter what tools I am trying to use, I have Photoshop memory usage set to use 70% of my RAM (17544 Mb) and have about 4 Tb of scratch disk available. I can work on small files (4 Mb or less) without too much difficulty, but anything over that will shut down my connection. Immediately and constantly.

You posted to the orphaned Photoshop Fix forum, for a mobile app that was replaced by Photoshop Express and has been out of support for two years. I've moved your post to the Photoshop forum for you.

Thank you Jane ... I'm a newb to this and have only ended up here out of desperation since I cannot find an answer through Adobe support ...
