Layer disappears when moving

Community Beginner ,
Apr 26, 2023 Apr 26, 2023

I posted this in this discussion thread, but I wanted to be sure and report this as a bug here too.

I am using Adobe Photoshop Version: 24.4.1 20230418.r.449 53a6c60 x64 on Windows 11

I can consistantly reproduce this bug with a specific set of conditions.

It only seems to happen to Smart Objects when they are inside of folders on the layer panel, and when they are above other layers.  Here's a screen recording that demonstrates this.  Very strange!

Hi @dlbarr1954

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and enable “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” - Restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

I have something similar, and “Older GPU mode (pre 2016)” helps, but is it okay that I have to switch it on for RTX 4080 ?

It seems to persist if the layers are grouped.

I apologize for the error in my previous message. The issue still persists if another layer passes on top of another layer.

That does seem to fix it, but now all actions (panning, moving layers, scrolling) are very laggy, like a low framerate.  Neither option is ideal right now so I guess I'll try this out for a bit and see if it's less annoying than randomly displaying layers.
