I've come across this issue lately and I have no idea how to fix it. I have experienced on my old MacBook Pro and my new and improved MacBook. When I'm working with layers Photoshop has stopped updating the appearance of the file when I turn on/off layers, use healing brush or clone brush. I have to zoom in or out for the screen to refresh to show me the current state.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any solutions?
That's great! Yes I do have RightFont installed and it's v4.5.
I'll update to 4.7 right now and report back.
Thanks for not giving up on this!

2013 Mac Pro DOA and new one installed and getting back up to speed- hopefully! From what I gather here it is a Wacom (I have a 24 Cintiq)/Ps issue. Tomorrow I hope to get Ps installed and if I see this issue I will report here. I am still installing many aspects that could effect so later- thanks for the heads up!

New information seems to be pointing at RightFont perhaps causing this.
Do y'all, on this thread, have RightFont installed?
If so, try updating to 4.7 or later to see if that resolves it for you.
Let me know how it goes.
Pete

Sweet mother of…I think we have a winner!
A couple caveats though.…
I normally have RightFont open and operating in the background. That does NOT work even with v4.7!
Here's my exact testing:
-- Did a couple opens of Photoshop with RightFont 4.5 to confirm that PS was not working.
-- Updated RightFont to 4.7. Purged my font caches and re-started the Mac.
-- RightFont 4.7 opened at log-in as normal. Photoshop opened with the expected Get Started screen the first time but failed on each successive attempt.
-- Closed RightFont. Then I successfully opened Photoshop 8 times and the start-up screen, crawling ants and everything else worked as expected!!
-- Opened up RightFont again and got the same behavior as before.
-- Closed RightFont and PS 19.1.2 worked again!
So it looks like there still is an issue with RightFont. Not having it open means not getting the full auto-activation feature in Adobe apps but I can live without that until they can fix this.
Would love to hear from other folks on this thread before we start hollering from the rooftops but this is great news after a couple months.
Thanks again Pete!
Daniel

It would also be great if the OP - "clbutler69" can test this and if it works, mark this as "Answered" so we can begin to deciminate this into the forum.

Awesome Daniel,
Many thanks for you providing your testing results so far, good to know they're positive.
Curious if others are getting similar positive results by updating RightFont?
Really happy to have a probable resolution to this headscratcher.
Thanks for sticking this one out with us.
Regards,
Pete

clbutler69, it kind of feels like Pete should get the Correct Answer points but nonetheless it's your thread and I'm curious if you had RightFont installed too?

No sweat Daniel, I'm not at all worried about points, just that the correct answer answers the thread. Your response works just as well.
Thanks for the thought, however.
Cheers,
PG

I have RighFont installed as well. Just updated to 4.7 but problem persists if RightFont is activated.
