Layers for beginners

Explorer ,
Dec 12, 2024 Dec 12, 2024

Hi I am trying to put one person from a image behind a person in a different image in Photoshop.I cannot get the images to stack in the layers panel .It is only the image in workspace that is the background layer, then if I click on the other image that becomes the background layer,I cannot get a stack of layers ,ie the two images or indeed more if I needed to open up one on top of the other .Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.   Bruce

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.

Please show us your Layers panel to reveal your stacking order.

In a nutshell, Layers are like transparencies.

  • The topmost layer is in front of all other layers.
  • The bottom layer is behind all other layers.
  • Middle layers are sandwiched between them.

Use Layer Masks to conceal/reveal regions from top and middle layers.
