Question

Layers in GIF lost after Save

I start from the assumption that I'm new to Photoshop, I was working on a gif, modifying some layers, everything was going well, I did some retouching and then I saved, until I did the work as usual, saved and turned off the pc, the day after I open the Photoshop file and find that all layers are gone except one named background, I tried to see everywhere but there is no trace of my past work, no error message, just level 0 and that's it, someone knows what has happened and especially if you can do something?

GIF doesn't support layers. The only file formats that support layers are PSD and TIFF.

I understand, then I try to explain myself better, I had taken the gif, uploaded it to Photoshop and it showed me all the layers with the images, they were about 200/300, now I don't know if they have a different name because I would be Italian, so the names they change, but in any case the meaning is the same, all the different levels have disappeared anyway. i know it sounds messed up but like i said i am new to this world

Sounds like you opened an animated GIF file, where the frames are represented as layers, then saved.

If you used Save As or Save As a Copy I'm guessing you have lost the frame animation as the file is a GIF89 format.

If you used Export/Save for Web (Legacy) then you have the option to use GIF89a(nimated) format.
