So i have a layer A and layer B. Layer B is over (or on top of) the layer A and also over the edges of layer A. My question is how to make the edges of layer A visible and at the same time keep layer B over the layer A. Describing something is my weakness im sorry

edit: also need to get rid of the red part

What is this supposed to achieve ultimately?

Please post a screenshot or sketch to clarify your intention.

Some options would seem to be available:

• Duplicate of layer A with a Layer Mask atop Layer B

• a comination of Smart Objects, Layer Styles, Groups and Clipping Masks

…

You could decrease the opacity of layer B.
