Left click lock

For the last few days I have had this annoying issue where the left mouse button sticks on. Say if I am doing a free transform or panning around the screen (space bar + left click). I'll release the left mouse button but when I move the mouse the action keeps happening as though the left button is still pressed down. I then need to click the left mouse button again to release it. I am running the latest version of PS on Windows 10. I have checked the windows mouse settings and click lock is not enabled. I have also tried a new mouse just to make sure and the problem still remains. Could anyone shed any light? Thanks.

Hi Cory,
Solution 1 worked for me. More specifically:
- Made a backup of "Adobe Photoshop 2023 Settings" folder
- Cleared preferences on launch (on Windows so ctrl + alt + shift, yes to prompt)
- Closed Photoshop, deleted the newly created settings folder and replaced with my backup
No longer seeing the left click sticking issue, even after a couple hours of regular workload. For reference, when I updated to version 24.3 I encountered this issue in less than 10 minutes.
Thanks

I started to face the same problem today.  25.9, 25.7, 25.6 all get left click stuck after some Alt/Shift/Ctrl click.

I have to finish by job today by force restarting PS over 30 times.  (small step, save, small step, save........)

I it very terrible!  Unusable!!!

Reseting "Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings" get NO help for me.  The problem come again after some operations after fews mins.

Any "workable" PS version is recommended at this moment?

Finally "solved" by downgrading to version 25.4 with rolling back the setting folder to 1 week below (just before I upgrade to 25.9)

This left click stuck bug is totally ridiculous

Yes, it's a terrible bug. Anyways, please try the new Generative Remove Tool, make sure to burn through your monthly credits and purchase more credits! /sarcasm

This is f*cking disgraceful. Over a year now that many of us are experiencing this debilitating bug. I had to go back from PS Beta to the stable version because it became ridden with crashing bugs, and now I'm instantly reminded of why I left for Beta.

Downright unusable to the point of considering leaving Photoshop, much as I need it for work. I even changed the bloody mouse over this issue and now it's back. This is definitely a Photoshop issue, it hasn't been fixed and from the responses it seems Adobe hasn't got the slightest clue how to fix it - but they sure have a lot of dev time devoted to new features...

Everyone who still struggles, I just have to point you all back to the solution method of:

1) closing PS, and then

2.) cut and pasting the C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings\ folder.  You need to cut its entire contents out and put it on your desktop.

3.) As a note, it can no longer be present in the C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\ folder at all

4.) Then restart photoshop.

5.) Then close Photoshop.

6.) Then delete the regenerated Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings folder in the C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\ folder

7.) Then copy your desktop Adobe Photoshop 2024 Settings folder back into C:\Users\yourUsername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2024\

8.) Restart photoshop.

It will very likely fix your issue because I have had this problem many many times over the last 12 months, mostly on one machine, but definitely on 2 separate machines through multiple versions and this solves it every time.  Despite it being frustrating, and I would agree embarrasing, this is a fix I can recommend.

I have ignored this solution because multiple users here and elsewhere reported the problem returning anywhere from 10 minutes later to hours later to the very next update. I do not intend to jump through such hoops every time I fire up Photoshop, but I appreciate reposting this hackjob of a solution and I'm aware of its temporary efficiency.

So the only thing worked on both of my PC's is a windows reinstal. Not the best solution, to put it mildly.

Almost a year later and this is still a problem. Have tried all of the "solutions". Nothing works. I don't understand why this hasn't been resolved somewhere.

This issue has made my workflow a nightmare. I've tried every suggestion and nothing works. I hope Adobe fix this soon.
