Question

Lightroom Classic thinks PS is running when it actually isn't.

I originally posted this in the LrC forum, but no replies 🙂

A professional photographer friend if mine and I are seeing this issue with "Edit In" in Lightroom Classic.

Macbook Pro M1 Mac OS 14.1, LrC 13.1, Photoshop 25.3.1, Photoshop Beta

Mac Studio - same as MBP

In both machines, I have setup Photoshop Beta as the additional external editor.

The problem happens when of the Photoshop app has been running and closed (PS 2024 for example), doing an "Edit In Photoshop Beta" results in this dialog box.

Photoshop 2024 definitely has been closed. The desired version of Photoshop is the Beta, not 2024 as shown in the screen shot. Clicking on "Open in Photoshop 2024" results in 2024 opening with the image from LrC. That is not the desired result when Edit in PS Beta was selected. The opposite happens if PS Beta had been running and PS 2024 was selected in Edit In.

Having both PS 2024 and Beta running at the same time does not affect the way this happens.

The work around is to have the desired version of Photoshop already running which is a frustrating extra step.

Is this something others are seeing?

@KR Seals the recommended action for anything related to opening issues in PS is to uninstall the beta and Photoshop, then reinstall Photoshop only (not the beta) to repair any communication issues.
