Liquify tool issue

i am trying to liquify an ill-fitting dress on the subject. When I use Liquify, eg: Forward Warp tool, it doesnt move the entire layer. In other words it moves the selected area but leaves a sort of semi transparent layer underneath. For example, if I try to move part of a red dress on the subject it leaves a semi transparent later underneath instead of moving it all. If I run the tool over an arm it leaves a semi transparent arm underneath.

I have tried rebooting Photoshop cc. I have tried different images in case it was just affecting one image.

Anyone else had this issue.

I don't see an opacity slider but tried moving density slider. Issue remains.

I have watched several how to use Liquify videos and tried to follow instructions but I still have this issue.

I have managed to reset preferences in Photoshop. Issue remains. Here is a screenshot of issue:

Move opacity to 0%. At 50% you see 50% of before and 50% of after liquify.

To slim the waistline try a bigger brush about 180 and pressure of 5, for a more natural transformation. Takes more brushstrokes, but result is better.

Thank you this helped me too, I am frustrated because this function was changed for me after a recent update in photoshop and I wasn't even sure what to google to find out what the issue was. I really appreciate this post. I don't like how updates change settings on you and you have to sit there and guess what just happened.

Hi, reset your photoshop preferences it will solve your issue.

To rest preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut:

Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings.
