I looked at that thread is very old and for an older version of Adobe scripts. The instruction state insert a line of code above line 411 it looks like the would be above line 403 in CC 2018. Did you put the line the strips the extension in the correct location?

Can you post your CreateImageStack_noext.jsx so we can see the that the file extension stripping line is in the correct location. And your "Load Files into Stack - no ext.jsx" So we can see thet ithe scripte was edoted correctly?
If you used the two scripts in the Zip file "Load Files into Stack - no ext.jsx" and "CreateImageStack_noext.jsx" did you copy them into the correct Photoshop Version scripts folders \Presets\Scripts\ and presets\Scripts\Stack Scripts Only\ for the Photoshop version you are using and what version of Photoshop are you using?

I will confirm the modifications described in that tread work the way you show. When I modify the CC 2018 versions of the Load file into stack two script file. The autor's code does not do what the author claims it does. It would be easy to write a script that would rename the layers names in the load layer into a stack layer stack. You could run that script after you use load file into a stack.
