Hi Otaks

Just for info, some info in this post is now time expired. Adobe stopped selling the CS6 perpetual license version and a CC subscription( Photography plan, Single App or full CC) is now the only way to buy.

Is there currently anywhere I can permanently purchase photoshop illustrator and premiere CS6 for a one time fee? And if there is what would be the total price for all three? Thanks

As of January 2017, Adobe has stopped selling CS6 licenses. So basically the subscription model is the only way to get Adobe products.

CS6 is also 2012 technology and not like to perform on newer operating systems, and it will never be updated. Dead, done, finis.

Your options are subscription or other alternatives. Premier Elements if your needs are not demanding.

Ahh!  I just talked to customer support today and this definitely isn't true!  I currently have CC and  CS5 master collection.

They just gave me an upgrade price for an upgrade from CS5 master collection to CS6 master collection less then an hour ago!  And as far as I'm concerned 7, is still the best windows OS out and when you order a new computer you can still request windows 7!  This sales misinformation is getting a bit annoying

Sales misinformation?

From Adobe : Creative Cloud now includes Creative Suite Master Collection and Design Premium features

The only bad information I see here is advice to purchase from auction sites.

No.  CS6 can not be legally sold by any agent, re-seller or country.

If anybody is offering to sell CS6, it's bogus.  Run away.

The beauty of Creative Cloud is that you can have multiple versions of the software going all the way back to CS6 if you need it.  I have 3 versions of PS on my system right now.   I don't recommend opening them all at once though.

Upgrades are optional.  You don't have to upgrade until you're ready and your computer meets the min-requirements.   If anybody is still on a 32-bit computer, it's time for some new equipment anyway.

Yes, you have to call adobe and purcase cs6 from them. but be prepared to cough up atleast 700$. You can also go online to purchase it from ebay or amazon for a lower price.

That is true for now of the United States, but try buying CS6 in Europe and you'll be out of luck. Adobe want to put people off buying CS6 hence the price. They know that no further work is being done on CS6 not even bug fixes or camera raw and don't want to find themselves in a situation 1 or 2 years from now with customers complaining like mad because it doesn't run on Windows 11 or El Capitan 2 or whatever they happen to call it. To be honest it will be the customers own fault if they waste $1000 on what is a defunct product, its like buying Aldus Pagemaker rather than InDesign. I've been told the reason you need to call and why there is no web download is so the Adobe salesperson can make it crystal clear to a potential buyer what a dreadful mistake they are making,. On the forum we have explained so many times why technically and financially its insane to now buy CS6 but some people have strong masochistic tendencies I'm afraid    As part of every Creative Cloud subscription you get CS6 as a download option at no extra charge. $10 a month and cancel anytime verses $1000 straight away. Anyone choosing the latter needs an economics lesson.

One item that is left out of this discussion.  I am an advance amateur.  The$10/month is a fair deal for me since I always updated to the next version.  I am also a senior citizen.  As I get older I will be using Photoshop less and less.  At that point the monthly cost becomes expensive for minimum use.  If I stop I lose access.  Because of this I am still using CS6.

I found sellers on eBay still selling their license key for perpetual license model for CS6.  I have qualified the seller as reputable and not a sell-and-ditch account.

If Adobe does not currently sell/support CS6 for osx, is it possible this is just an X employee leaking company serial keys or some crafty hacker with keygen?  If I purchase the serial key, can I verify it with someone at Adobe to make sure this will continue working for me into the next decade?

eBay has never been an authorised agent for Adobe software and is a high risk place to buy. This is a case of you pay your money and take your chance if you proceed-Adobe will not help with this. You won't get a serial number until you purchase and will know if the serial is blacklisted straight away as the software will not install. If it has been generated by a keygen the software may install , but the new validation service will eventually work out it is a counterfeit and will start popping up an annoying warning every few minutes-unfortunately as that might take a couple of months you will not be able to get your money back from the supplier. If you ever try to reinstall you will then find the serial gets rejected. You are also locking yourself into a particular operating system. For a time CS6 was not expected to work on Sierra -Adobe never even tested it formally on that OS. You therefore have no guarantee CS6 will run on future versions of OSX and as there is no development work undertaken with CS6 that will not change.

We regularly hear from people whose keys stopped working after years have passed. We usually don't find out why but a favourite trick is for a seller to get hold of volume licenses for use in a single company. When you first install it you can, because it's a real serial. Later Adobe realise these are being used in an unlicensed way and block the whole account. Sometimes the sellers are still around, but talk rings around their customers, pretending to each it's a new problem. Even some authorised sellers have been doing this trIck.

So, it really is pot luck. You have to ask yourself though: once Adobe have stopped supplying the product, where do these sellers get an inexhaustible supply of them?

The situation stinks but it's much as if you buy a used car and, years later, the police find it and tell you that it was stolen, papers forged,  then sold to someone else before ending up with you. You lose the car, without compensation.

Not only volume licenses, but keygens and pass-arounds are a source of unauthorized serials.

But since Adobe pulls the serial without notice (and it doesn't help that few register their software) and does not remotely deactivate, then the customer will only find out on reinstall.

And yes they are out of luck.

Same thing happens in the banking business

There is a trick where someone is sent a check for a larger amount than charged and is asked to send the difference.

If a bank accepts a check and tells you it cleared, that means the company on the check has sufficient funds.  The check is cashed and most will forward the difference to the crook thinking cleared = not counterfeit.

The physical check is then sent to the company in batches once a month and when that company's accounting department determines it was forged, they sign an affidavit and the one who cashed the check is on the hook to reimburse the bank. The crook has their funds and is long gone.

Well,

I have Master Collection CS5 and CC2017.  Sorry, I would feel naked without my perpetual CS5 license and I'm planning to upgrade it to CS6 very soon while I still can.  I like the whole idea of not waiting for a major update and putting a couple of grand on the table, but it didn't bother me either.  I purchased CS3, skipped CS4, then purchased CS5 Master Collection as soon as it was released.  So the argument for the subscription and how it is such a deal, probably doesn't apply to myself or many Master Collection users, because we were only upgrading every other release.  Lets say your paying $450 a year for CC, as a comparison from CS4 to CS6 was 5 years 2008 to 2013.  You would have paid over $2250 for those 5 years on a CC subscription, and I don't believe upgrading from CS4 Master Collection to CS6 Master Collection would have cost that much, I could be wrong!  I'm not saying their aren't any earthshattering cool features in CC, the fact is we would have still gotten them via subscription.  Personally, the biggest difference I see is the addition of free plugins in CC, that we had to purchase before.

I think the reality that gets lost in all of this is 80% of the people/clients I meet and or do work for are still using CS3.  Now that's an interesting question, how big is the actual CS3 install base.  It must be quite large because every bookstore you go into, all the adobe help titles are for CS3!

For clarity, you cannot buy an upgrade from CS5 to CS6. Adobe stopped selling CS6 in January 2017.

Whilst you hold a CC subscription your licence does currently enable you to download and use all versions from CS6 to CC2017.1.1 (current)

Which version of Photoshop, in particular, that you need depends entirely on the work you do. I would agree that CS3 is easily enough for tone adjustments and color corrections, but it falls short for restoration work, making composites, anything involving 3D, collaboration in a team, simple video editing to name but a few. A lot of the code in CS3 is still present in CC and that's a measure of how good it was in its day, but things change with time. What happens when your next computer comes with an ultra high definition screen? Most CS applications will be unusable as everything is much too small-you will then have no choice but to switch software. I should say Photoshop CC isn't up to speed with Retina etc yet, but it will be in 6 months. I don't take the view that sticking with old software is miserly, but if you are a professional user you need to evolve. It doesn't need to be done overnight or even every year, but if you don't you get left behind and can't compete.

On a lighter side, are you sure you aren't visiting second hand bookshops as the one I go to stocks the CC books and you would need to order for CS3. There is also a big difference in price , on Amazon the CS3 Photoshop Bible is $16 whereas the CC Photoshop Bible is $60

Terri,

All the Box book stores like Barnes and Noble here in upstate NY have CS3 books on the shelves!  They are selling new books not used, and their no way close to $16 either.  Was just in one 2 days ago and I was shocked to see all the CS3 material on the shelves!

I think you will find if you shop around that commercial printers will take RGB files now and do the pre-press work for you. They will of course charge for that, but it avoids a lot of problems with needing to know the type of press they are using and the paper type they will print on. Your problem will be getting your on screen image to look acceptable when printed. Photoshop Elements does not have a capability to convert to CMYK , you need Photoshop CS6 or CC for that and this means your on screen preview in Elements is likely to look very different when printed. You could try printing to an ink jet printer as that does an on the fly conversion to CMYK, but really you should ask your printer to make a high quality proof before committing to an expensive print run.
