I'hv been trying to work on long exposure by stacking

1- File / Scripts / Load files into stack

2- browse files to stack and press ok

3- layers / smart object / stack mode ( not active - faded color )  ) I can not proceed further.

any asistance would be appreciated.

I believe Smart Object stack modes were made unavailable in the Standard version of Photoshop CS6. The extended version unlocked some features. However, you can simulate Smart Objects and the stack modes. For instance, select all layers and set the layer blend mode to Lighten to simulate SO stack mode 'Maximum'. To fake long exposure, you'll need to manually change the Opacity of the layers. The formula is 1 divided by the layer's position in the stack. Layer 1 (bottom layer) would be 100% Opacity. Layer 2 (next layer above bottom) would be 1/2 or 50%. Layer 3: 1/3 or 33%. Layer 4: 1/4 or 25%.

Yes, you are correct, Benjamin. I forgot that stack mode was only for the extended version.

Once you've created the layers (stack) you need to select them all and turn them into a Smart object.

Or alternatively make sure Create Smart object after Loading Layers is checked in the Load Files into Stack dialog box.

As per your Point 3 - the stack mode options only work on a Smart Object.

Please let me know if this doesn't work - it should sort out your problem.

"Load files into stack" window has no option for " create smart object after loading layers

The create smart object is under the filter menu. You need to make a smart object of the layers before you can use the stack mode.

I'm sorry, but I should have also asked if you have the Extended version of CS6?
