Lost simplest curves panel adjustment options in Camera Raw

Another thing I used a lot seems to have disappeared in latest Photoshop update (Photoshop 24.6.0 , MacOS 13.4.1):  when opening my raw untouched Nikon NEF files with Adobe Camera Raw, I use a preset 'medium' contrast curve as part of my default setting for opening files from my primary camera.   I often switch to 'high' contrast as a secondary default.  And sometimes I shift back to linear and make very detailed and image-specific adjustments.  I rarely adjust contrast with the 'basics' slider becuase the direct visual adjustment of adding and moving points directly on the curve is now ingrained workflow and very easy for me as a visual thinker.

Now that curves adjustment is gone and there are more bleeping sliders and I can't drag the curve the way I am used to.  And my default setting preferences does not include the curves adjustment anymore.

It wasn't broke and didn't need fixing and now it does.

Very hard to be 'kind and respectful' when Adobe discards something without notice to substitute something without anywhere near the flexibility & ease of use I am looking for.

And I can't tell what is going on when reopening images that were originally set with various curve adjustments because now all I see is that same linear 'curve' when I open them--as though that portion of the .xml data has been discarded or ignored.

Am  I missing something here?  WHERE IS MY CURVES ADJUSTMENT IN CAMERA RAW?

Can't share a screenshot of the previous workflow because I never conceived I'd have the need to show this issue.
