I have a logo in gif format without transparent bkgnd.

I want to change bkgnd to transparent by color (i.e #F0F0F0).

Can I do it in ps 6.0 (I only have ps 6.0) ?

Thanks

You can do that in File>Save for Web if you have photoshop cs6.

    (Map colors to transparency)

If you have photoshop 6 (circa 2001) or photoshop elements 6, then it'll require a different procedure.

It is possible in that ancient version. (Just did so in Window 10).

    Open your gif.

Image Mode > RGB 8 bits (convert your gif from Indexed color mode to rgb mode)

Unlock the layer making it a floating layer

Then left-click on the layer thumbnail, choose Blending Options.

Set the top slider (This Layer) to 253. White becomes transparent.

Set the image Mode back to Indexed color, it will keep the transparency.

    Save as Gif
