Make text transparent

Hi there,

This has been bugging me for too long. Is there a way of making text fade to near transparent?
(Like in attathement)

I have tried many ways to do this, search Google and can find no answer other than to use the eraser tool and carefully use this blending to what I need. I've added a layer mask, I've converted the text and tried the gradient tool....I just can't get it.

Any thoughts would be great 🙂

The Group has a Fill of 0% and contains only the Gradient Layer which can be edited later on easily. 

The Type Layer is Clipping Masked to the Group.

    I can see the process but unsure what you've done here.
    In the group is background and grad fill?
