Making font stand out on colorful background

I'm trying to make my font to be easier to read on my busy background (see black font image). I found an example of what I'm trying to do (see white font image) but am not sure how to accomplish it. Any ideas on how to replicate the white font so that the black font is easier to read? Thank you!

In addition to the suggestions to use a white glow effect, try reducing the opacity of the background layer to a point where is not competing with the text as much.

Thanks! I googled "How to make a glow around text" and was able to watch the tutorial on how to do that. I just didn't know that it was called a glow. For others who might wonder how to create the glow, here is what the tutorial explained:

Create a copy of the text layer by selecting the text layer and clicking "Ctrl J"

Right click the new layer (the copy) and click "Rasterize Type"

On the top of the screen, click "Filter" then "Blur" then "Gaussian blur"

Adjust the number until you get your desired effect

You don't need to do all that to get a glow. Just use Outter Glow in the layer styles.
