Hi,
Please excuse me as I am new to the forum and extremley new to using photoshop CC. This is probably a very basic question, however I am being usless and I cannot find the answer. I am trying to merge two company crests together so one half is one crest and one the other, with a nice blend in the middle. However as I say I am failing miserably. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
Kenny

Hi
Is it possible to upload the logos in question or even a screenshot, it will give someone a better idea of how to help you

As Ged Traynor said it would be helpful to see the images in question.
Depending on how their shapes line up it and what their colors are may be a relatively simple matter like applying a Layer Mask and a Clipping Mask.

Hi,
It is these two here.....
As I say I am extremely new to PS so it's all a learning curve to me

I recommend you
• place both logos in a new image (drag and drop them or use File > Place Embedded)
• set the top one’s transparency to 50% (hit 5 on the keyboard)
• use Edit > Free Transform (cmd-T) to align them
• set the top one’s transparency to 100% (hit 0 on the keyboard)
• apply a Layer Mask (Layer > Laye Mask > Reveal All)
• reset fore- and background color (hit D)
• use the Gradient Too (G) to create the fading effect … but you can just as well use the painting tools if you need more local control

Haha, posted at the same time! I pretty much did exactly the same steps, however I also used guides.

There must be better ways to combine the graphics. This needs the 'Salam Project' text put back somewhere, but it is better that a simple merge I'm thinking.

But if the OP should go with such an elaborate change they should probably try to do that with the vector data (that is assuming that the logos were originally created as vector data).

A very quick example:
I resized the upper logo so that it was the same size as the lower logo, then added a layer mask with a gradation in the middle. Invert the layer mask to swap, or blur to increase the blend etc.
You can download the layered file here:

Hi Ken
What format are the logos in? Most often, they would be vector, so if they are in .ai or .eps format, there is a completely different answer.

Hi Jane, not sure what they were created as. They are jpegs from my company media centre. Actually looking i think the text and lines would be better being taken off and keeping the middle blend. Looks far more subtle. Thanks for your help it’s really appreciated. I am still at the uber novice stage with CC and learning (very) slowly
