missing layer?

I am working with many layers and don't recall deleting any of them.  But I suddenly am missing an important layer and I've scrolled through the layers several times and can't find it.  Is there a way that a layer can hide? It was important!

@pslane1 doubtful but worth checking - make sure you don't have any layer filtering turned on:

If you haven't closed your document yet, check the History panel to see if there is a command where the layer was deleted.

In addition, you can do a search in the Layers panel if you remember at least part of the name of the layer.
