Monitor image partial drop-out with PS 23.5 & 23.5.1 update.

Serious problem w/Photoshop versions 23.5 & 23.5.1. I have had to revert back to vs23.4.2.

The top portion of the image disappears and reappears when using hand tool to move the image around on the screen. Especially when the image drops below the bottom of the screen. Problem first appeared w/23.5 update. Reverted to 23.4.2 and all was well. Hoping it was fixed in 23.5.1 but, no luck.

I use screen 1 for PS and screen 2 for BR. Have never had this problem until 23.5.

I'm on MacStudio M1 Max, 64G memory, MacOS 12.5.1. By necessity, working in PS 23.4.2

Thanks for the post @Pmaar curious if you have tried this?

Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

I am now having more problems that seemed to have just 'appeared'. The rotate tool isn't working - something about needing to be Open GL something/something. I can enable the rotate tool by: PS>Prefs>Tech Previews>uncheck Deactivate Native Canvas.

However, that sends me back to the problem of my original post - the screen image partially disappears/reappears as the file is moved around the screen. So, useless. (screen recording of this problem in original post).

To eliminate this problem: check Deactivate native Canvas. But, that makes the rotate tool give me the OpenGL problem.

AND, in addition to this mess, when trying to use the text tool and apply text to a layer, click on the image file and the whole screen goes black. Yep.

My specs: MacStudio Max, 64G memory, Mac OS Monterey 12.6, dual Dell U2723QE monitor set-up. I also have an external plasma (video editor) via hdmi. The plasma monitor is off when working exclusively in PS.

I had updated to PS 23.5.1 and thought maybe that broke something. Reinstalled 23.5 but all the same problems. I'm back on 23.5.1 and unable to get work done. Before posting this I ran TechTool pro 15 to check my volume structure.

I've tried every combination of changing the PS prefs; change the pref, quit PS, reboot:

both checked/both unchecked> Use Graphic Proc & Deactivate Native Canvas.

One checked, the other unchecked, reverse that.

Not a single combination has allowed for a work flow that existed not that long ago. And, I don't know what has changed. What has changed?

Just bought a Mac Studio M1 and a Dell U2723QE and experienced horrible issues with Photoshop. I followed the above fix: Photoshop "Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restarted Photoshop. Now it works as expected…so far.

I am now using PS 24.0. And, none of the problems have been eliminated.

I have managed to keep the working area image from acting strange AND have managed to keep the function of the rotate tool by the following 3 settings:

PS>Preferences>Performance>Graphic Processor Settings>(check) Use Graphics Processor>Advanced Settings> Use OpenCL & anti-alias guides & Paths
PS>Preferences>Tech Previews> uncheck Deactivate Native Canvas
And, ALWAYS have rulers visible in your work area.

I went thru about an hour of trying every variation I could to end up w/this one that actually allowed me to continue working IN THE WAY THINGS HAD ALWAYS WORKED. Except that I usually hide the rulers because I prefer working w/as minimal a screen as possible. So, a compromise.

Very frustrating to have to create ridiculous custom settings.

Hopefully, my quest can be of use to others.
