Most efficient compression tool for archiving PSD files

I have tons of PSD files that need to be archived.
They were all saved with no-compression option in Photoshop.

Now I'm planning to compress them using WinZIP/WinRAR/7-Zip.
Which tool would be your choice for archiving and why?

With hard drives being cheaper than ever, why do you need to compress your images at all?

Because I can't afford more drives.

Turn compression on in Preferences, and use File > Scripts > Image Processor to save them to a new location.

You'll need the uncompressed files to be in the same folder (or multiple folders if you run it a folder at a time)

Try it it with a few files to see how it works, but it should be fine, and you can leave it running over night or whatever.

Agreed. I would never use external compression on archive files. A compressed format is much safer.

Also, check whether compressed PSD or compressed TIFF produces the smallest size. Only don't use LZW on 16 bit files, it was made for 8 bit and usually increases size in 16 bit files.

Note that compression dramatically increases open/save times, on the order of 2-5x (which is why I never compress).
