Most of my fonts have an italics effect, how do I turn that off?

Most of the regular fonts I use are 'half italic'. They're not as tilted as the actual italics font but I can't seem to find a setting to stop it. Thanks!

With the text selected, click on reset character from the flyout menu in the character panel.

if that does not work, I highly recommend resetting the preferences settings : Edit -> preferences-> General, click on Reset preferences on quit. Then restart photoshop

Could you please post a screenshot with the text selected and the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Character, Options Bar, …) visible?

I suspect you have Faux Italic stye applied. Go to Window > Character and if slanted T is highlighted then click on it to remove Faux Italic style. This can be applied and using Character Style.

The faux italic Bojan mentioned seems like the prime suspect, but there is also the possibility that you slanted the Layer which would unfortunately not be indicated by the Bounding Box after being applied, bit copying the text and pasting it into a new Type Layer might be used to get rid of that effect.
