mouse button release outside the workspace causes malfunctions on v 24.4.1

Hi,

I have similar issues on both of my devices when using v24.4.1.

The most common example that I can provide is when using the hand tool:

When I move arround the canvas, If the button is released outside (the canvas) - eg past the top or left roulers, then the canvas continues to follow the cusror even with the button relased (until I click inside the canvas again).

I noticed similar behavior whith the move tool when moving layers as well as with the text tool when clicking and draging to select text and releasing outside the canvas.

Hi Cory,

Thank you for the reply.

I don’t know if the following was the case, but -with preset syncing on both devices (as I already had)- I noticed the problem at first on my desktop device (both devices at 24.4.1 - not sure which was updated first). Then, I checked the laptop and observed the same issues that I described and reverted to 24.2.1 as a workaround (just on the laptop) and posted my problem.

When I got to work on the desktop (no revert version installation there), it was back to normal.

Now I updated the version on the laptop again and things are normal here as well.
I haven’t checked the desktop again since the laptop update. If there is more to it, I will get back.

Thanks a lot

Hi @StilianosK sorry to hear this, a couple things to try:

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

Or:

Go to Preferences/Tools and disable flick panning and overscroll - does the issue still occur?

Are you using only a mouse or do you also have a graphics tablet/pen?
