Mouse randomly becomes unresponsive when using PS2020/2021

Hi all,

I'm having a bizarre issue with PhotoShop since I built my new computer.  When using (or sometimes even launching PS) my mouse becomes completely unresponsive and I have to unplug it and then reinsert it into the USB port.  Then it works ok for a few minutes but invariably after a few minutes it happens again.

I tried downgrading to PS2020 to see if the issue happens there and it does.  This did not happen on my previous computer.  I used PS extensively there with the same mouse without issue.

It is ONLY PhotoShop that's causing this - I've used other applications and have done extensive gaming on this new computer and have not any other application cause me trouble with my mouse.  I even went out and bought a replacement mouse to test and fresh out of the box it also exhibited exactly the same issue.

Steps I've tried to resolve:

  • Updated mouse firmware (Corsair M55 Pro RGB)
  • Updated Corsair iCue to latest version
  • Removed PhotoShop 2021 and installed PS2020 - same issue
  • Removed both PS versions and installed PS2021 without retaining preferences
  • Reset preferences in both versions
  • Plugged mouse into various USB ports on mobo and on case front header (mix of USB 2.0, USB 3.0)

My hardware:

  • Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 rev 1.1 mobo
  • Ryzen 9 3900XT
  • 64GB Corsair Dominator DDR 4 PC3600 RAM
  • 1TB 970 EVO Plus nvme
  • 2TB 970 EVO Plus nvme
  • RTX 3090 FE 24GB GDDR6x
  • Acer Predator X27P 4K monitor
  • Asus ROG Swift PG279Q 1440p monitor
  • Corsair K95 Platinum KB
  • Corsair M55 Pro RGB mouse

Software:

  • Windows 10 Pro 20H2 (build 19042.630)
  • Corsair iCue 3.36.125
  • Adobe PS 2021 version 22.0.0.35
  • Gigabyte X570 rev 1.1 BIOS F30
  • M55 Pro firmware v 4.7.23

Any ideas?

Regards,

Daniel

Solved by plugging my mouse into a USB 2.0 port instead of USB 3.0.  No more lockups

Hello, I've seen a mention of the sampling rate, can you try to lower it to check if it has an effect.
