My brushes keep disappearing in CS6. Any ideas?

Is there a file size limit? I load them up, and can use them and when i shut down PS then reopen it at a later time all that is left is the original dozen or so brushes.. this has happened several times lately and its makin me crazy

Does anyone have any ideas on this? and also a way to quickly reload all the brushes when this happens.

Adding to what JJ has said, it might help to know what operating system you are using. There have been some Permission issues with some versions of OSX which might affect Preferences.

But to clarify, are you saying that you have Appended other brush sets which appear in the brush panel, but are gone after restarting Photoshop? Or are you referring to new brushes that you have made?

Reset the brush tool for a start. In fact reset all tools (left end of Options bar).

This will help with Permission issues

im using windows 7 by design.. I had it installed on my new PC.. is that what you mean by OSX not sure what the X means.

The brushes that have gone missing have not been recently made.. they are just loaded from ABR files.. im using photoshop CS6

although i do have the new photoshop.

i will try go and reset all the tools and see if it helps...

It sounds like your Photoshop Preferences may be being reset to Adobe default set. Are you also loosing your loaded actions and tools preset etc?

no im not.. just the brushes... i was wondering if im just overloading them perhaps.. i loaded just 3 large brushes a while back and shut photoshop down after.. then rebooted and opened it back up.. they are still there...

I use brushes a real lot and i do load a fair few in.. this is first time this has happened though...

Do you mean you have loaded a lot of brushes in the presets\brushes folder, or in the brush panel? I am not sure if there is a limit with the brush panel, but if there is it will be very large. There is no limit with the brush folder.
