My cat slept on my keyboard and now I'm stuck.

Hey all. For the past week my I've had problems with text in Photoshop. Now when I type in a line of text, it's the text that moves, which isn't a big deal, but after I'm done typing the line the last two or three characters jump in front of the others. There's no cure to be found online and only one of the people I talked to said they had a similar problem, and there's a command to make it stop, but she can't remember what that command is. Was just on hold for almost three hours with Adobe until I was cut off. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Try resetting the tools and/or preferences.
To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut:
Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.
Note: Using the keyboard shortcut, preference files for custom shortcuts, workspaces, and color settings will also be reset to default.
