My eraser tool is painting

I have done something and my eraser tool isn't erasing now it's painting or deleting the blemish and leaving white and gray checkered boxee. Can anyone please help me!

Hi @Katrina30637615krr7 its not painting - you are erasing on a layer with transparency (checkered boxes) behind it.

Can you show your entire screen including the layers panel?

If you are expecting the easer to remove to the background color, try flattening the image back to a single Background layer.
