Question

My photos disappear as soon as imported from my iMac or macBook.

Hi, it's been a month now and I DEFINITELY need to work on my 2 computers.

As soon as I open a series of photos imported from my iMac or macBook on Photoshop, they disappear.
The app is perfectly working, up to date (via the Creative Cloud), but when I open some photos from any file from my laptop (or iMac), they are totally invisible.
Can't see them, can't zoom in/out, can't duplicate the photos or add any layer.

I 've tried to open them from Photoshop AND also by sliding them directly from the file.
I tried from 10 différent files located on my laptop, a hard drive, a USB drive.
Same issue all the time. Black photos, impossible to edit them.

Some rare times, I can see a "broken" photo, see screenshot attached, but as soon as I touch something (zoom in, duplicate photo, select a tool....), it becomes black/invivible.

Laptop and iMac work on BIG SUR.
Everything was working well when I switched for BIG SUR a few weeks ago, then suddenly...

Thanks for your advice or suggestions 🙂

Used HD space on the macBook: 194G/500-G

iMac:300G/500G (and no pbm anymore)

No I don't think the RAM is the problem. Again everything got crazy suddenly after a few weeks.

I only use one soft at a time (LR or PS or Bridge) + outlook + chrome, never more. It has always worked...

The issue seems solved on my "old" iMac, just worked 1 hour on it at a great speed 🤩

Nothing to do on the macBook though
. Still doesn't work with local nor remote files.
Waiting for the next iOs update 🤷🏼‍♀️ Can't work remote until that.

I just registered to be part of the "studies" about Photoshop bugs.

You may just be running out of RAM. Photoshop uses a lot of RAM and if you have other apps open (Lightroom, Chrome, etc) this can make things very difficult. Also, how much scratch disk space? Are your files on a local drive or network?

MacBook Air 2020

8G RAM

M1

Sonoma

I don't think it's a system issue at all, everything worked perfectly when I upgraded to Sonoma a few weeks ago.

Same with the iMac which is more ancient (2019, SSD 512G, 16G RAM) but the Creative Cloud works very well, Lightoom and Bridge are fine, I just have some (hopefully rare) issues with Photoshop.

Ok 🙂 Yes Sonoma is better.

You should also think about upgrading to macOS Sonoma, Big Sur is out of date now.

Big Sur

Monterey

Ventura

Sonoma
