My preferences have been reset without my permission.

Yesterday, and only yesterday, both Lightroom and Photoshop were running very slow. Both are the latest versions. And I'm running Mojave 10.14.3 (latest version I think).

Every tool had lag, both in Lightroom and Photoshop. Particularly the Adjustment Brush in Lightroom and the Normal Brush in Photoshop.

It was so bad I considered ending my contract and buying Affinity.....

New day, opened up Photoshop and found that my preferences had been reset, I saw a welcome screen that usually indicates a new version of the Photoshop had been installed, but it was exactly the same version as before.

Actions I had loaded some weeks ago were gone. The same for brushes I had loaded as well. Also, Styles I had created were gone but luckily saved in my CC Library.

More importantly, my performance had improved back to normal.

I did find out later that brush lag with Mojave can be caused by not allowing PS access in Accessibility Settings in Mojave. But, the performance of the brush in PS was fine. But, to be on the safe side I allowed PS acess

Paranoia kicked and I thought that maybe Adobe thought I was running pirate Adobe Software and was slowing down the performance somehow. But, I was logged into Creative Cloud.

Whatever what the hell is going on Adobe?

I have been using Photoshop since 1993. So many versions of Photoshop and have on occasion seen my preferences have been reset.  Photoshop Preferences becoming corrupt has been a problem for as long as I can remember. Adobe Added shortcut to reset your preference  when starting Photoshop because its such a common problem. Adobe has now also added a button in Edit Preferences to reset preferences on shutdown.  Corrupt  Preferences can cause  Photoshop to fail to start.  I have a suspicion that if Photoshop see that your Preferences are corrupt when you start Photoshop, Photoshop may reset you preferences.  I have never seen this documented.  However, on more than one occasion I have found my preferences have been reset. The I why I usually have a back up of me preferences that I can restore if I need to.

JJ thank you.

As long as it just not me (paranoia kicking in).

I'm not far behind you I started on version 4 of PS, and think I had resets before. But, combined with performance issues the day before it set me off ranting. Isn't it bizarre that a computer can ruin your day? It used to be people.

To be honest, I'm not bothered about my preferences too much, but to lose my brushes and actions was a bummer. I also noticed all of my Adobe software is now showing me welcome screens as if I've just updated the software, or I'm a new user.

I always tell people that loading is not saving when it comes to brushes and actions for instance. I should have known better.
