My Text Won't Show Up

Hi, I've been using GIMP 2.6 for quite a while and I've recently found that all these years I've had Photoshop CS3. However, a small problem has arisen; when I enter text it won't show up; I've even tried it on transparent backgrounds to no avail. I'll post a screenshot. (Made in GIMP 2.6.)
Any help?

Since the text shows up in the Layers panel, it is there, just not visible. Check the resolution of your document. If it's very low, like 10 ppi,, the trext will be too small to be visible. Alternatively, try setting the size of the text in terms of Pixels, rather than Points.

Sorry, I'm kind of new at Photoshop. How do you set the resolution/change from points to pixels in terms of text size?

In the Options Panel (default at the top of the screen, below the Toolbar), you can set the attributes of the Tool. In this case, it will be the Text Tool. This Option Panel will change, depending on the Tool selected.
Also, check that your color is not the same as the background, i.e. white on white will not show.
What is the resolution of your Image?
Good luck,

It's not white on white or anything; I checked that. And how do you find/change the resolution of an image?

This sounds like yet another manifestation of video driver problems. What video card do you have?
Go to the web site of the maker of your video card and download/install the latest driver set for your card. I'm betting that'll fix it right up.

Okay, but how do you find your video drivers?

Not knowing what version of Windows you have, it's hard to say, but I'd look for any nVidia display control utility in the system tray, or right-click the desktop and choose Properties or Personalize.
However, perhaps to quickly skip some steps, you could try Option 2: Automaticically find drivers for my NVIDIA products on the page I referred to above. Click the [GRAPHICS DRIVERS] button.

Windows 7.
Resolution didn't work, and the text box I made was massive. I also checked about the character thing; I read another similar post and I didn't do anything wrong.

So... Did you update the video drivers?

No; couldn't find the drivers.

Have you tried opening a photo and entering text on the photo?
At least that way, you could narrow things down a bit, if entering
text on the photo works.
Also did you try different fonts?

You may want to double check all your settings.
I see the Document you are working in is a grey scale 8 bit mode, you may or may not want it like that.
additionally I notice a text box marker above your image, I don't know if this is from Gimp or Photoshop.

1. What video card do you have?
2. What operating system do you have?
3. What happened at nVidia's web site when you entered that information into the several prompts?
You realize updating the video drivers really is going to be the solution to your problem, right?

1. I don't know what video card I have.
2. As I said previously, Windows 7.
3. Didn't go, because in reference to 1, I don't know what video card I have.
4. Seeing as nothing else anyone suggested worked, I'd assume this'll work.

Did you try "Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products"? Just press the [ GRAPHICS DRIVERS ] button and see what happens. They really do try to make it easy.
If that fails, perhaps it's not a nVidia card (but we're starting here because nVidia has the biggest market share).
This would be a good time to go do some research and educate yourself a bit about how computers are put together.

Okay, found the drivers. Turns out they weren't nVidia; I had to look somewhere else. But I reinstalled them and it works fine now. Thanks so much!

You can change the resolution of your document from Image->Image Size, try setting it to 72. If that doesn't work then please post a screenshot of the Character panel

You find the image's resolution in the Photoshop menu item Image > Image Size. You find your video drivers via the Windows Control Panel > Device Manager. I would check the resolution first.

Also, the text size is set to 12 pt.
If the document resolution was wacky (say, 1 ppi), then that might not show up too well (because that would be about 1/6 of a pixel tall).
It also looks like you may have dragged out a very tiny text box -- and the text you typed won't fit in that box.
Either click once to place text without a box, or click and drag to define a box (like when you need justified text).

In the text size field in the Option Bar, explicitly enter something like "100 px", and see if anything happens.

Is the text positioned over the background?
