My workspace

I have a PC with Windows 11, updated drivers, and the latest version of Photoshop. I have made a personalized workspace and saved it and everything has been fine for years. But a few days ago my workspace has started doing its own thing. I can reset it but I can't add more to it (like swatches) and I have to reset it every time. I can make a new workspace but it opens the same way and I have to reset it, too. Any ideas what has happened?

What does the screenshot show? The »correct« state or the »incorrect« one?

Either way please post a screenshot of the corresponding other state.

It would only let me upload one screen shot. I thought you could tell that there was no trash can, adjustment layer icon, etc. on the bottom right so it is the incorrect state.

Do you use more than one screen?

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
