The text below I did not type it appears in the text block when opened in Photoshop. Downloaded the program today. Curious if anyone knows how to stop it from appearing each time the text block is opened?
"Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. Quis ipsum suspendisse ultrices gravida. Risus commodo viverra maecenas accumsan lacus vel facilisis."
That is dummy text automatically inserted by Photoshop so you can see what the type looks like. It disappears the moment you type anything, or you can keep it by pressing Escape. "Lorem ipsum" is a longstanding convention in the printing industry for placeholder text. You can find out all about it here.

Thank you, it was not something I remembered from previous versions of Photoshop I used.

It was introduced a few versions ago, so it's quite likely you wouldn't have seen it if you haven't used Photoshop for a while. Illustrator has the same feature.

That is placeholder text, also known as text greeking, to show what text would look like, especially for paragraph type. It can be turned of at Edit > Preferences > Type, and un-check Fill new type layers with placeholder text.
