Hello Everyone!! I am new to Photoshop and am having problems with removing residue that the eraser tool won't get rid of and blending things smoothly. Oh by the way, I do not understand layers or masks so I am still learning. I am enclosing a picture I am working on and if you zoom a little bit  and look at the hair and the horses nose or her hand you will see the black I am talking about. Also the  hair I added looks choppy to me.  I really appreciate any help! Kindest Regards RR

Normally with somthing like this you might use Select > Subject and then apply a (non-destructive) Layer mask and then fine tune.

Layer masks are not complicated. You want to remove something, paint on the mask with black.

Remember: paint with black to conceal, paint with white to reveal.
