Hi there,
When I double click on an image file on my network (with Photoshop currently open) a completly new instance of Photoshop opens, then no image loads. This is increadibly annoying. I end up with many versions of photoshop running.
IF I drag and drop the networked image, or go to File > open in the original instance of Ps, the image opens no problem.
This happens regardless of the image file format being opened. I have all image file associations attributed to Ps in Windows.
This is on a new installation of Windows 10 (21H1). Latest version of PS (23.1.1) Have tried uninstalling and re-installing Ps
Windows 10 64bit
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X
Geforce GTX1080ti (driver up to date)
Any help much appriciated.

Check your user privileges/ file and folder permissions. If you reinstalled your system, you may have inherited invalid security tokens and the files open up separate instances because technically Windows thinks they belong to different users (or no user at all for that matter). Using network storage makes this even more critical if users aren't synced up all across the board. The usual right-click --> Properties --> Security is your friend. Delete any outdated users/ tokens and take posession of your files.

Hi Mylenium,
Thanks for your reply.
Where exactly am I to do the 'right-click --> Properties --> Security'? I'm not seeing a 'Security' section on the properties of the networked folders and/or files.
Also, FYI, this issue is only happening in PS. Not Indesign, Illustrator, AE...
