The new gradient tool in increadibley time consuming and fusssy. I can't make it work. I can't believe the creators of photoshop took a simple quick and useful tool and turned it into a hard to use nightmare. To simply create an anchor to pull up the line results in dots and circles that do not cooperate and to all over the place. Not to mention every time I try I get a new layer. I tried to use the menu to check the legacy tool. It will not allow me to check it. I thought I did and when I went back the checkmark is gone. Now I see I can't really check it. Can this be checked in Preferences vs the gradient drop down menu? To the Creators....do not change what is working and upset workflows that cause hours of wasted labor. Not everyone who uses Photoshop is tech savvy or uses PS all the time. Keeping things simple must be an option to be fair to consumers. Make a new tool instead and have both tools. These are totally different tools. Thanks.

Did you make the change for the mode from Gradient to Classic Gradient in the options bar or another way?

Hello,
I switched back to my previous version of PS...so how I remember it is, In PS I went to the window dropdown menu, selected the gradient tool to get the gradient panel to show up, clicked the hamburger menu at right top for the drop down menu, within that menu I checked the word word Legacy. It did not work so I repeated this action and saw there was not a check mark. When attempting to click it to get it checked, it would not show a check mark and I was still in the new tool. I googled this suggestion. Do you find the options bar method works? Thank you!
