New Photoshop driving me crazy

(Win 10 PC, Adobe Photoshop 2022)

Making selections - have to zoom in/out to actually see the selection marching ants. Otherwise you don't see the marching ants at all and have no idea what is selected,
Making paths - either getting extra lines, or not seeing lines at all. Again, have to zoom in/out each time I add a node to see it.
Lightroom roundtrip - not working at all, I'm having to export files from LR to get them into PS/ ["The file couild not be edited because Adobe Photoshop 2022 could not be launched" - it is already launched!].
Crashing about once an hour
Scaling - again, handles don't appear unless I zoom in/out.

This new Photoshop is the biggest piece of junk I have ever used. Many things I have done for years no longer work. Can't open recent files since it is greyed out. Used to be able to drag an object from one image to another and it would let me resize it. Looks like I am going to have to ditch Photoshop if I want to keep editing photos.

@carlh96567635 If you updated Photoshop to 23.x from 22.x and didn't choose the option to import your previous prefs, recents would be empty, since those are stored with the prefernces.

It sounds like some other settings didn't get carried over. Just a guess, but it sounds like you probably had Show Transform Controls turned on before if you were expecting resize handles to be there when moving objects/layers:

If not that, will need screenshots and more information.

if you're using an older GPU, that's probably the issue. The requirements are a lot more strict this year than they've ever been.

@rhysacymro Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur with paths, selections, transform, etc?

Many thanks for the reply Jeffrey. I checked 'deactivate native canvas' as suggested and the pen tool now works as intended (ie no extra lines all over the place)... so thanks for this info.

However, when I use any of the other selection tool (marquee, wand, lasso) I see no marching ants - that is unless I zoom in then zoom out again, which causes them to appear.

Similarly, the layers panel is not updating correctly. As shown in this image, the background layer gets a good preview, whereas the Layer 1 lacks image preview and mask preview.

File>Open Recent is also still grey - on opening of photoshop I see the usual thumbs of the files I've used recently, but the option in the File menu remains grey,

I suspect it is a gfx card issue. As requested, here's the Sys Info content. Win 10, 32Mb Ram... apparently an 'unknown GPU though'

@rhysacymro HD Graphics 4000 is too old and doesn't have enough RAM or horsepower for the current version of Photoshop. You'll want to update your graphics card with a discrete card that has 2 or more GB of VRAM and support DX12.

Absolutely horrific! I've used Adobe Photoshop since 1998 and NEVER had so many problems. The program is virtually useless to me now. Unfortunately, when I upgraded to v. 2022, I had Adobe Cloud remove my previous version. Now I have to figure out how to get it reinstalled. I'm shocked and disappointed that Adobe would release a new version without adequate testing.

I've had to start using Affinity photo just to get through the day's work. I wish I knew it as well as I know PS, but I guess that'll come with the enforced practice while PS is unusable.
