New Photoshop versions: stack pictures automatic - Only only placed on top of each other or distorted?

I'm working on an research project. I need something to know about stacking two pictures. In the new versions of Photoshop it can works automatically. Are the pictures really only placed on top of each other or distorted?

Are you asking about the Script that loads multiple images into a stack?  See screenshot.

It works best if your images are all the same size.   But I don't notice any distortion.

I think you might be referring to auto-blending. There are options that control what distortion, if any you want. You can have PS just re-position the images, to have it attempt to distort them so they overlap and are all aligned.
