Nik Software and Topaz Plugins are not on PS CC

I have installed the new PS CC but I can't find my plug ins for Topaz or Nik Software, can I not use them with CC?

Nik is working on an update, but users are working with older version of the plug-in I think.

From Nik:

On a Windows:

1. Make sure all versions of Photoshop are closed.

2. Run the Nik Collection installer from the file you received via email and downloaded. If you no longer have this file, you may email customer support (supportus@niksoftware.com) to have the file sent to you again.

3. During the installation process when you get to the Host Application window, you will notice a plus sign to add an install location. Click that button and navigate to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop CC\Plug-Ins\.

4. Complete the installation, then open Photoshop CC to ensure that the plug-ins have successfully been installed.

On a Macintosh:

1. Make sure all versions of Photoshop are closed.

2. Run the Nik Collection installer from the file you received via email and downloaded. If you no longer have this file, you may email customer support (supportus@niksoftware.com) to have the file sent to you again.

3. During the installation process when you get to the Host Application window, you will notice a plus sign to add an install location. Click that button and navigate to Mac HD|Applications|Adobe Photoshop CC|Plug-Ins and paste the Google folder into this location.

I wasn't far out but thanks for the prompt. My Photoshop cc had just updated and I did not remove the old version (2018). When I went into the folder listed above, I had to select the 2020 file and add that, all went well. Thanks for the help, Rich.

I experienced this problem today. I tried uninstalling then re-installing Nik, to no effect.

So I went to Google Nik Collection help and found the solution. It worked straight off (I had a filter that I do not use, uninstalled that and that put the Nik collection at number 5 instead of number 6). Very pleased with the simple solution.

Hi All CC & Nik users around the world.

I try to solve the actual bug that SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOLVED BY "NIK BY GOOGLE" BEFORE THEY DECIDED TO SPREAD THAT CRAPPY LATEST VERSION... And I literally can't calm down 'cause this is my second week of struggle.
I can't understand how this is possible for us - users to accept the fact of being forced to do someone elses' job?!
Google Nik support guys gave me their bullshit advise about self solving problems installation of Nik version 1.0.0.9 while it still has bug inside.
Newest Photoshop CC 64 bit just does not see newest Nik 1.0.0.9 on newest Windows 8 64 bit. Crap+crap+crap. I'm exhausted of chasing new information on all available forums and of hundreds and hundreds oposit opinions and solutions from users. I am going to wreak havoc with Nik guys asses. It's enough. Believe me or not. I've tried ALL THE POSSIBLE combinations of where which bloody file or folder of Nik should sit. Today I won, but just for a while. Photoshop CC finally opened with Nik filters but only once and when I closed it and closed the system and opened it again in the evening and run Photoshop - guess what? All bloody Nik disappeared again! Should we all be IT guys to cope with softwares we are spending money on? I am just a photographer and would like to have fun with my new softs.
One more thing. If you decide to put here any instructions or tutorials first please make sure you are doing it properly and precisely. If you are not sure then please just quit because there are at least 25 different "successfull" solutions around that are not working at all. I've tried them all and still haven't found one proper for PSCC64 + Nik1.0.0.9+ Win864.

I undersatnd you frustraion and how right you are that "we" the purchaser of a goods or service, software included should have to jump through hoops to get it to work. And even more so when you arrive at a message board only to find advise offered by people who shouldn't be allowed to give advice. Not sure of your situation with the CC vs Nik at this time. But I can tell you my situation was easily corrected when I contacted Nik support directly. My issue was; I had PS CS6 and had only purchased two separate pluggins from Nik and all was good. Nik merged with Google and they sent me an email one day with a link to the whole Nik bundle and life was grand. Then PS CC came along and I had nothing. I too took to the message boards and found all kinds of hoops to jump through. I then contacted Nik and as crazy as it sounds was told I had to re-download via the link in the email and not their website (like whats the difference?). I did as I was told and my Nik has been in CC ever since. Strange I know.

However you situation may be very different and maybe I was just a lucky person. I just thought I would share that with you. And I can say that message boads have good advise but it seems the confusing out weighs the bad.

I couldn't agree more with Rich, contact Nik directly, they will take you step by step with what you have to do. I tried to do what people said here, didn't work, contact Nik and had it all working in no time.

I'm having the same issue. When I go to Programs>Adobe> PhotoshopCC (64bit)>Plugins, the Nik Collection and Topaz shortcuts are there, but they do not show up in Photoshop CC.

I have followed every set of instructions I can find on the internet, including uninstalling and reinstalling Nik Collection and the filters are still not showing up in PSCC and I am back to using CS6.

Hi Pat,

I have my Nik collection up and running fine in PSCC. I did have an issue when CC came out and had to find a solution myself. I can't remember exactly what steps I took, but it had to do with one of the "program files" locations being wrong. I would suggest copying the google folder located in C:program files/Adobe/Photoshop CC(64bit)/plugins to > c:program files(x86)/Adobe/photoshop cc/plugins. You have to make sure the actual .8bf files are in the folders and not just the shortcuts. At the very least it won't hurt anything and at the best it will solve your problem.

Also, there is a google folder with all the unzipped Nik programs in C:Program files/Google (below image) where you can find the appropriate .8bf plugins . The shortcuts you are reffering to point to this folder.

Below are the two "program files" folders in windows7. Just check the adobe PSCC plugin folders in both locations to make sure that the google folder is present in both (to be safe) and make sure the actual and appropriate (ie 32/64 bit) .8bf plugins are located in the individual folders located in the google folder.

If you are going to transfer the files as described above, then please "COPY & PASTE" the .8bf files and not "cut & paste".

You are absolutely not going to succeed by copying 32 bit plug-ins to the 64 bit folder or vice versa Just make sure to keep them straight.

I got everything (Topaz & Nik) to show up in PSCC.
In Bridge CC, there was a right-click context menu item for merging images to HDR Efex Pro. That is no longer there.

From Topaz Labs

For Windows users:

1. Exit out of all Photoshop applications

2. Go to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS6 (64bit)\Plug-ins

3. In another window open up C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC (64bit)\plug-ins

4. Drag/copy the Topaz shortcuts (eg. topazdenoise5_x64) to the CC Plug-Ins folder

5. Re-open Photoshop CC and your Topaz Labs filters should be in the filter menu.

*If using 32-bit CC, copy the plugin shortcuts from the 32-bit Plug-ins folder to 32-bit CC Plug-ins folder. The 32-bit CC is in:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC

**If you do not have a previous version of PS installed, you will need to re-download the plug-ins from http://www.topazlabs.com/downloads/ (be sure you are exited out of PS during the installation process).

***An Alternative Method:

1. Close PSCC and open BridgeCC.

2. Open an image in Bridge and send it to PSCC.

3. See if you now have the plug-ins showing...

4. If you've already pinned PSCC to your taskbar, delete that one.

5. Right click on the PSCC that is open with the plug-ins showing and pin that one to the taskbar.

For Mac users:

1. Exit out of all Photoshop applications

2. Redownload the plug-ins from topazlabs.com/downloads

3. After installation open PS and the Topaz plug-ins should be located in your filter menu.

I have windows 7 - 64 bit. If I look in c:/programfiles/adobephotoshopcc/plug-ins my nik shows up; but it does not show up if I go under programfiles(64 bit). My plugin shows up in photshop cc, but it freezes up my computer and will not work. Please help.

I had this issue (and many more) right after Google bought Nik (sad day indeed) and I basically went to war with Google over it (look on their Google+ Nik thread ). Because it was such a long time ago I can't remember exactly how I solved it but I believe I had to copy all the Nik files from "Program Files" to "Program Files (x86)" in the corresponding folders. Try that and it should work. If it doesn't you can just delete them with no harm done. I wish I could be more accurate because I know the "pain" of this issue first hand.

If it does work I suggest doing what I did and block Google auto updates in your antivirus/firewall rules.

The Topaz software is in fact compatible with CC. You will need to exit out of CC and redownload the software from topazlabs.com/downloads. Upon opening PS, the plug-ins should be in the filter menu.

I did try installing Nik software again and then went to find it, but it wasn't there. I ended up saving my image and going to CS6 to do what I wanted to do. I have tried what Pete above has said, I have been doing some other stuff, but will try later.

Did you close photoshop, then open Bridge and then open the image in PSCC from Bridge and see if the plug-ins were now there??

The FAQ on CC installation says you have to reinstall all your plugins using the installer from Nik and Topaz respectively. I reinstalled my Nik ones and it worked. However Dx0 Filmpack 4 (just released) does not install. I've got a query open with Dx0 about why that is. Not terribly well flagged by Adobe (I found the FAQ off another post) and an irritating experience as a user.
