Question

No more add grain? /verticle, horizontal

I used to use the add grain feature and then I would specify the grain to have a horizontal or verticle pattern. Now, I guess there is no more add grain tool unless you use bridge. So, I tried it in bridge and adding grain works but there is no way to make it horizontal or verticle. Is there any other toold that would do this effect?

Are you talking about Filter>Texture>Grain in photoshop?

What version of photoshop are you using?

In photoshop cs6 you can get to the texture>grain by going to Filter>Filter Gallery.

.

CS6: "Filter > Filter Gallery..." then in the Texture category is Grain with horizontal, vertical and other types.

In Preferences > Plug-ins, you can enable the listing of all Filter Gallery filters in the Filter menu.

Thanks for the tip of Preferences>Plug-ins.

Now I have the Texture submenu.

However it is greyed out. Any idea why?

Check the mode of your document under Image>Mode.

You probably want 8 bits/channel and either RGB Color or Grayscale.

Some of the filters won't work on high bit depth images or certain color modes.
