No objects were detected

I've updated to the latest PS for the select object tools, but it doesn't work at all.

If i use Layers - Mask all objects i get a popup with "No objects were detected".

Also the object selection tools never shows any objects and the object finder box is ticked.

What kind of image are you working on? What computer? More info and a screenshot probably would help to figure things out...

I've tried several pictures, with cars, people, birds and just simple object on a white background, nothing selects.

I'm using a macbook pro on Catalina.

See here for selecting a different GPU (I believe it just turns off the basic GPU, leaving the better-performing GPU going all the time, which leads to less battery life but Photoshop doesn't like more than one GPU active anyway):

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/troubleshoot-gpu-graphics-card.html#multiple-gpus

That looks like a solution, but it isn't. I use a tool that lets me select the GPU in use, so i can turn off this auto switching and force the use of either gpu i want. Instead of nvidea gpu i want to use the intel one, because that one has more gpu memory available (it uses main memory for it). The nvidea only has 512Mb, which ps thinks isn't enough.

So when photoshop runs, it uses the intel gpu, but it think it's using the nvidea one so it turns off gpu acceleration because it doesn't see enough memory....

I've had this issue with other programs and switching to the intel gpu makes them run withtou issues.
