No Path Option for Ellipse Tool

Im using a new version of Photoshop and it doesnt give me an option to select path when usning the Ellipse Tool? Im trying to write text around a circle.

Not sure what you mean by "select path" - you should be able to see the path if you:

-With the Direct Selection tool selected,  just click on an edge of the ellipse.

That's because you're using the wrong tool, you have this tool selected

You need to draw a shape with this tool

Set the tool to Path in the options panel and draw the shape you want

Select the Type tool and hover over the shape until to see this

Click and start typing your text

I don't have the second tool to use, meaning you said this person was using the worng tool and they should use the second one instead. I dont have the second one. I'm on a current version of 2023 Photoshop. Where is that second tool?????

How could one tell if you don’t show a screenshot of your Toolbar? 

If the Ellipse Tool is actually absent and not just a secondary Tool

try »Edit Toolbar«.

Marquees are selection tools. Selection tools have a dashed border while Shapes have solid borders.
