Hi
I try to copy smart filters from one document to another one but it doesnt work for me.
I do it like that:
Layers in both documents are converted to Smart Objects. I arrange the documents 2up-vertical.
The Layer thumbnails are active. I click the Smart Filter and drag it into the second document.
But it didnt work.
Any idea what I do wrong?

When you say it "didn't work" was the filter not applied at all or is it that you don't see it in the layers panel? If the latter you may need to expand the layer in the layer panel to see the filter info as below
If it has not been applied at all, have you checked that the second image has an image mode and bit depth compatible with the filter

Between documents you would most like need the duplicate leayer and its style effect to the other document. or use the Copy layer style flyout menu in one document and the use the flyout item paste layer style in the other document. You neet to target the layer you want the layer style on.

I need to copy the smart filters, the Copy Layer Style option is grey and cant be applied. See the screen video in my second post. Also I have done it before and it worked, now I am not able to copy smart filters between two documents and I dont know why its not working at this time.

I do not know if smart Filters can be dragged and dropped or copy and pasted for you need to target the receiving smart object layer. I think you would need to duplicate the layer with its smart filter to the other document. When I do that the smart object layer is duplicated with its layer mask and filter mask and smart filters. The canvas size and print resolution I would think need to be the same for Smart object layers work like Place was used. Once the layer is duplicated into the other document you can duplicate the smart filter or move it off the layer onto the smart object layer you want it on. You may need to add some other smart filter first to get a proper Filter mask for the smart object, Then move the filter you want on the layer.

Hi
I've looked at your video and can't see what is stopping it. I can do exactly the same here and it works.
Have you tried resetting preferences?

Yes I have tried to reset but no change. I can do it manually but I have to do about 100 images, 3 different images with 35 different filters/each. I dont understand why it was working before and now not anymore. Strange

I did not think it would be be possible because you needed to be able to target the receiving smart object layer. However I opened two documents the same size and create a smart object in each and in one added a layer above and below the smart object gradient layer. ant the targeted the background layer. In the first document I added a smart Oil paint Filter and I was able to drag and drop it onto the gradient smart object layer in the other document, I was also able to convert the green layer to a smart object last and drag and drop the smart filter fron the other document on to it. Dropping the filter on the top normal layer or backgrounf layer did nothing.

Because the receiving layer also needs to be a smart object. Just convert it to a smart object and now you can easily drag the smart filter into it
