Just to follow up. I reinstalled PS CS4 from new media and all is well. I ran "reinstall components" replacing everything.

Thanks for the follow up, David.
It had to be faulty media - the issue was just too obscure for it to happen on two machines by coincidence or an isolated hardware issue. Glad you got it sorted.

I posted this on another thread, but I am having problems with Flash, saying that it cannot open adobe flash because it is not supported by this architecture, looks like this is an issue that Adobe has seen a few times, is there a fix or do I need another installation disk?
Thanks,
Rob

Is this a new install or a problem that has just cropped up?
In my case I was able to confirm that a new disk was need by checking the "Bridge" disk image.

I had exactly the same problem with Bridge when I installed Elements 8 on my iMac running OS 10.5.8
The solution was to uninstall Elements upgrade to Snow Leopard 10.6.2 then reinstall. Elements and Bridge are now working fine and my iMac is running like it is on steroids!!!!
