Adobe/Microsoft & Apple install many fonts that are unusable or in a foreign language. I uninstall many of them to make my system run faster. A few are locked by OS and you cannot uninstall them. Noto is one of those families. Look at how many I disable, they are greyed out and off.

I like to keep my font menus tidy also, so this is annoying to anyone who is a graphics professional and does this for a living and even the hobbyist, as your font menu is cluttered with many unusable fonts, or fonts you have little or no usage for.

They might not be unusable IF one actually provides meaningful data entry.

Dear Adobe and Apple. Please fix this issue. It's ridiculous. Photoshop is getting less and less user friendly as time goes on. Some of us are professionals with workflow and deadlines to consider.

@Jerry 1066 , have you fixed your issue yet?

Which exact fonts are causing problems in Photoshop for you?

Not sure you understand what the issue is. As the OP said, Noto and other foreign fonts cannot be prevented from appearing in the text drop-down menu in Photoshop. There are so many instances of Koto and others that it makes it impossible to weed through them all to find the fonts I am using for my work projects. Koto and the other foreign fonts are Apple system fonts and cannot be switched off in Font Book. So there they are - useless, unuseable, menu confusing squares on one of the most essential drop-downs in Photoshop.

Apparently Photoshop can't render Noto fonts which are a part of MacOS Mojave and Catalina.

Every Ps user including me (Catalina) sees these squares. I simply ignore them.

Hi Farah,

to help you we need more information. Which version of Adobe Photoshop are you using? Which OS are you running the software on? Do you use a font manager? Where did you get the fonts?
