Question

Object Selection Tool is Crashing My System

Hey! I just updated my Photoshop to Version 26.7! Since then, whenever I use the Object Selection Tool, Photoshop hangs, the screen goes black with the mouse cursor gigantic, and the system gets stuck. I have to force a shutdown and restart my system. I have an 11th-gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-11300H @ 3.10GHz 3.11GHz Processor with 16GB RAM. Can someone guide me as to what the problem might be? Thanks!

Same thing is happening to me and I'm on a Mac studio.  Rolled back to previous version and everything is working fine with that.

Hey, @Someet & @Evolutionary. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more info to help you figure this out.

I couldn't find crash reports submitted with the account you've signed in to the community with. If you see a crash dialogue, submit it with your Adobe ID. Check here for more steps: https://adobe.ly/3Wpjx0B

Great suggestions by @Ged_Traynor, please try those first.

Has this started to happen since the recent update? Please test and confirm if the issue exists with Photoshop (Beta). You can get Photoshop (beta) from the Creative Cloud > Apps tab > Beta Apps section.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks!

I've been too busy to risk upgrading at the moment and the Beta's always cause me problems with my workflow so it's just not worth the effort at the moment.  I didn't get crash reports on any of the times it's crashed.  I only installed the update for an hour and it froze 3 times using the cloud based subject selection.  I rolled back to the previous version and it's worked fine since.
I have a full workload at the moment so can't afford the time to test anything sadly.

@Someet try manually resetting your Photoshop preferences
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually
Remember to back up your settings before doing the preference reset
https://helpx.adobe.com/ie/photoshop/using/preset-migration.html

If that doesn't help, can you post your Photoshop system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info, hit the copy button and paste the entire thing into this thread
